Mercer students wishing to learn French language and culture or simply improve their knowledge of French can enroll at CIDEF, which boasts 60 years of experience in teaching French to foreign students.

Each year over 1,500 students and teachers from 75 different countries come to learn French and improve their knowledge of the language and culture. The training method is unique. Through intensive practice students learn to understand and speak French within a few months.

Students can choose between two programs: courses during the academic year from October to May or summer courses from July to September.

Mercer Application Deadlines:

  • October 1 (Spring)
  • February 15 (Summer)
  • March 1 (Fall, Academic Year)

Requirements: In order to attend an Exchange Study Abroad Program, students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Questions regarding this policy may be directed to Emily Dunn (dunn_ea@mercer.edu).

While Mercer has exchange programs in 10 countries and faculty-led programs in many more, some students still may not find the particular country or area of study they were hoping for. To ensure that all students find just the right program and country to fit their study abroad needs, Mercer has partnered with select affiliate programs so that students can study almost anywhere in the world and in every subject.

Mercer affiliate programs allow students to enroll in a partner university or program through a third-party provider. GPA requirements vary by program. Students are billed by the program provider and pay fees directly to the provider; students will not pay Mercer tuition. While abroad, Mercer students are enrolled in a placeholder course and credit will be awarded upon receipt of their study abroad program transcript.

Please note, to ensure proper credit transfer, you must use a pre-approved affiliate program.
