Global Academic Ventures | Internship and Study Semester in Asia Pacific

Dates: January 11th – May 9th, 2026

The Internship and Study Semester in Asia Pacific (ISSAP) program combines global business courses with hands-on international internship experience. This program is designed for students wishing to combine a semester of coursework with practical work experience in areas of the world that are driving the global economy.

Students begin the program with 8 weeks in Sydney, Australia, focusing on core business courses that apply to all Business majors and minors at Mercer University. Classes are taught by local faculty in two four-week blocks. Students enroll in 1-2 courses per block for a total of 9-12 credit hours.

After completing the coursework, students will have the opportunity to participate in an optional Spring Break in Cairns, Australia, where participants will be able to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, and take in the natural waterfalls of the rainforest. Students may also opt out and travel on their own between Sydney and the Internship portion of the program.

Following the break, the program continues with an 8-week credit-bearing full-time internship in a location of your choice within the Asia Pacific Region (Auckland, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore). With the Asia-Pacific region at the forefront of innovation and the global economy, students will have the opportunity to work within their industry of interest to further explore careers and the workforce in a global industry and economy.

The ISSAP program provides students with the unique opportunity to study business in an influential and important sphere of the world and will be able to compare the business and economy of the two locations.

Location: Sydney, Australia and various locations in the South-Pacific for an internship

Requirements: In order to attend an Affiliate Study Abroad Program, students must have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Questions regarding this policy may be directed to Emily Dunn (dunn_ea@mercer.edu).

Classes are taught by local faculty in two four-week blocks, and students enroll in 1-2 courses per block for a total of 9-12 credits. Core courses are targeted primarily at students majoring in some aspect of business and include:

Introduction to Marketing
Introduction to Service and Operations Management
Management and Organization Behavior
Global Business Environment
International Marketing
Principles of Finance
International Finance
Business Information Systems

Courses may be added to accommodate partner institutions’ needs (for example in accounting), and syllabi are available upon request.

Rates based on 2025-2026 academic year rates for one semester

Study Abroad Fee: $75
Mercer Technology and Facility Fee: $150

Billable Total: $225

Non-Billable Amounts:

Rates based on 2024-2025 academic year rates for one semester

GAV Tuition and Program Fee: $20,890
Flight: $3,000
Visa: $2,000
Personal Expenses: $3,000
- including meals and groceries as GAV does not offer a meal plan

Non-Billable Total: $28,890

Total: $29,115

All students will be required to confirm their acceptance to the program by October 2nd.

Where a student cancels or withdraws from the Program:

On or after October 3rd, 2025, but before November 12th, 2025, the student is liable for the Non-Refundable Deposit Amount of $1,000;
On or after November 12th, 2025, but before December 12th, 2025, the student is liable for the Non-Refundable Deposit Amount together with 85% of the GAV Tuition and Program Fee; and
On or after December 12th, 2025, the full amount of the GAV Tuition and Program Fee is payable in respect of that student.

The student must pay any shortfall in the above amounts to Global Academic Ventures or, if applicable, Global Academic Ventures must refund any overpayment.
