Requirements: In order to attend a Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program, students must have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Questions regarding this policy may be directed to Emily Dunn (dunn_ea@mercer.edu).
The program combines the study of Bali, its history and its culture; exploration of the cultural and natural reserves within the Indonesian nation. Students will gain insight into the biodiversity and cultural aspects that impact the Balinese people and participate in hands-on service-learning volunteer projects such as mental health psychoeducation workshops learning about aspects of holism, the integration of spirituality, nature, and wellness. They will connect with community members, work and learn alongside other families and individuals.
This course is designed to help you develop skills and perspectives to enable you to get the most out of your international study abroad experience. The program will provide you with the resources necessary to maximize your learning experience both during your time abroad and when you return home. General intercultural communication techniques, vital in preparing you for the different views, values, and customs you may encounter will be integrated into class discussion. This course is an examination and analysis of the social, cultural, and economic environments and impacting the mental health and wellness challenges of Bali.
