Requirements: In order to attend a Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program, students must have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Questions regarding this policy may be directed to Emily Dunn (dunn_ea@mercer.edu).

This four week intensive program offers an exciting opportunity for students interested in improving their Chinese language skills. Students will live and study at National Pingtung University. Daily Chinese language classes will be taught by Mercer faculty. Tutorials on conversational Chinese will be offered by NPTU’s Chinese Language Center. Students will also gain in depth knowledge of Chinese culture, history, and society through real life experiences. The program provides many field trips and hands-on activities in Pingtung, plus guided tours to Taipei, Kaohsiung and Kenting. Students will need at least one semester of Chinese before participating in this program. The course(s) can also fulfil Asian Studies minor requirement.

CHN 253S/CHN 353S – Chinese Studies Abroad

Course Description

Chinese Summer Study Abroad in Taiwan (CHN153S, CHN253S and CHN 3535) is a faculty led summer program offered by the Department of Foreign language and Literature. This four-week intensive program offers an exciting opportunity for students interested in improving their Chinese language skills. Students will live and study at National Pingtung University. *Tuition is dependent upon your current enrollment and your college’s tuition fees for the semester of your program. If you are enrolled as a traditional undergrad on the Macon campus, the 3 credits for this program will be charged at $566 (tuition) per credit hour and $12.50 (facility and technology fees) per credit hour (total of $1,735.50).
