Requirements: In order to attend a Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program, students must have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Questions regarding this policy may be directed to Emily Dunn (dunn_ea@mercer.edu).

Participants will travel to Paris, France to introduce them to empirical research methods and how a study abroad experience in Paris can be applicable to their respective majors and careers in education and other related fields. Through the study of French history, culture, and schooling, students will be able to explore the city of Paris to research how their visit to this urban area connects to their academic and professional growth. Students will visit places such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Versailles, Sorbonne, and many more iconic French landmarks!

During this one-week program, students will experience:

visit of the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, and more
guided visit to Musée du Louvre
a day trip to Versailles
a day trip to Sorbonne to visit the university
visit of Notre Dame
explore the catacombs
free day during Bastille day events and parades

EDUC 374 – Methods in Curriculum

3 credit hours

Course Description

This course is an orientation to curriculum studies (6-12) that affects middle and secondary students. Candidates will learn and implement methods of integrated/interdisciplinary curriculum including lesson plans, assessments, and instructional strategies to scaffold student learning and meet the diverse needs of students in grades 6-12.

EDUC 390 – Special Topics- Study Abroad to Paris, France

3 credit hours

Course Description

This course offers a study of the curriculum, history, and culture of Paris, France in context of global education that is not available through other program offerings.

Purpose

The purpose of this special topics course is to introduce empirical research methods to undergraduate students about how a study abroad experience to Paris, France can be applicable to their respective majors and careers in education and other related fields. *Tuition is dependent upon your current enrollment and your colleges tuition fees for the semester of your program. If you are enrolled as a traditional undergrad on the Macon campus, the 6 credits for this program will be charged at $566 (tuition) per credit hour and $12.50 (facility and technology fees) per credit hour (total of $3,471).
