Universidad de Navarra | Pamplona, Spain

Located in Pamplona, Spain, the Universidad de Navarra (UNAV) is a partner university that offers a variety of courses and students a fantastic pathway to experience Basque culture, medieval architecture, and a lively local community . With courses ranging from law and international relations, engineering, humanities, foreign languages, and social sciences, this university is a wonderful option for students from any discipline. Located in the southern part of Pamplona, the Universidad de Navarra is located a short transit ride away from downtown Pamplona. Pamplona offers many wonderful sites to explore, such as a Renaissance fortress, the Ciudadela de Pamplona, and the historic arena, the Plaza de Toros de Pamplona. The Universidad de Navarra also has a satellite campus in San Sebastián where their engineering school is located. The Universidad de Navarra is a fantastic choice for anyone who wants to learn more about Spanish and Basque culture and have a unique study abroad experience.

Requirements: In order to attend an Exchange Study Abroad Program, students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Questions regarding this policy may be directed to Emily Dunn (dunn_ea@mercer.edu).

All students participating in Spanish exchanges are highly encouraged to purchase a supplemental health insurance policy through a Spanish health insurance company. As a part of the visa application process, students are required to show proof of health insurance, and policies procured through non-Spanish health insurance companies are more likely to be rejected. You can find a list of appropriate policies here.

All students participating in Spanish exchanges are highly encouraged to complete their partner institution applications as soon as they are available, due to the requirements for securing a Spanish visa appointment. Students who do not complete their applications as early as possible may not be able to secure a Spanish visa appointment in time for them to receive their visa before their program’s departure date.

All students participating in Spanish exchanges are required to travel in-person to the Consulate of Spain in Miami for their visa appointments. Students will have to make their own travel arrangements for this requirement.

The Universidad de Navarra offers a variety of courses. UNAV combines the strengths of a major research university in the historically rich city of Pamplona in Spain. Over five decades, the Universidad de Navarra has become internationally recognized for improving lives through research, fostering excellence in scholarship, and actively engaging in civic engagement.

Exchange Students can register in any of the courses offered by the following schools at UNAV: School of Humanities, School of Engineering, School of Communication, and School of Law and International Relations. Courses offered at the university can be found in the Exchange Course List. Please note that not all courses may be offered every semester.

The exchange and study abroad programs are normally open to undergraduates interested in courses in these schools with no restrictions other than university pre-requisites that may be stated in the catalog for each course.

The Universidad de Navarra does not have a housing service. However, the International Coordinators Office has useful information that can help you to locate housing. The housing options are diverse: single rooms with or without ensuite bathroom, full-floor rental, families, student residences, etc.

Student Housing Services in Pamplona Recommended by UNAV

Before signing a contract, check what expenses are included (heating, water, telephone, electricity, community, etc.). Normally the community and heating costs are included, whereas the cost of electricity, telephone and water will be paid by the renter. Always sign a lease that describes these conditions including whether a previous deposit is required or not.
